Japan Tobacco International's Philippine unit announced it will purchase an additional 3.3 million kilograms of tobacco leaves from local farmers, as reported by Philstar Biz .

The move comes in response to an oversupply of tobacco in the domestic market, which had raised concerns among farmers about unsold inventory. JTI's additional procurement aims to stabilize demand and support agricultural livelihoods.

This latest purchase is on top of JTI's existing commitments to local growers, reinforcing the company's position as a major buyer in the Philippines. The increased volume is expected to benefit thousands of tobacco farmers across the country.
