Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr. said the Department of Agriculture (DA) is proposing a P220-billion budget for 2027, surpassing the indicative ceiling of P160 billion, according to BusinessWorld.

The proposed budget includes a significant allocation for the Animal Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (AnCEF), which requires an annual budget of P20 billion. Mr. Laurel highlighted this fund as a key priority.

The DA's budget proposal aims to address agricultural competitiveness and livestock development, though it remains subject to congressional approval. The indicative ceiling for the department was set at P160 billion.
