A low-pressure area (LPA) may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as early as Thursday amid the continued effects of the Southwest monsoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday. BusinessWorld reported that PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda said the LPA, based on their data, is likely to enter PAR between Thursday and Friday.

The LPA was last spotted 1,200 kilometers east of Mindanao and has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours. However, it is expected to enhance the Southwest monsoon, bringing rain over parts of the country.

PAGASA advised the public and local disaster risk reduction offices to monitor the LPA's development and prepare for possible rainfall, especially in areas already experiencing monsoon rains.
