Government Watch Convenor-Director Joy G. Aceron on Wednesday called on the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to impose stronger safeguards against corruption in the national budget, as reported by BusinessWorld.
In a statement, Ms. Aceron said the DBM must push agencies to identify and address programs and projects that are prone to corruption and inefficiency. She added that the budget department should closely examine Commission on Audit (CoA) reports and act on their findings to prevent the misuse of public funds.
The advocacy group’s appeal comes amid recurring calls for greater transparency and accountability in government spending. Ms. Aceron emphasized that integrating anti-corruption measures into the budget process is essential to ensuring that public resources are used effectively.
