Energy Undersecretary Mario S. Marasigan said at a briefing on Monday that KEPCO SPC Power Corp. Unit 2 is set to return on June 2, while Unit 3 of another plant is expected to return early July, BusinessWorld reported.

The two plants had been offline for maintenance and repairs, contributing to tight power supply in the Visayas grid. The Department of Energy has been coordinating with power producers to ensure stable electricity as demand rises with the summer heat.

The resumption of operations is expected to ease supply concerns and reduce the risk of rotating brownouts in the region. The government continues to monitor the situation and encourage additional capacity from other plants.
