The Philippine government did not file any complaint against anti-Marcos protesters who allegedly harassed Palace Press Officer Clarissa A. Castro during President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s official visit to Canada last week, according to a report by BusinessWorld.

In a video interview shared with reporters on Tuesday, Ms. Castro said protesters were free to express their views and that officials decided to ignore the incident. “They can exercise their right to free speech. We just ignored them,” she said.

The Palace official added that the protest did not disrupt the President’s engagements in Canada. The statement comes amid online discussions about the conduct of protesters abroad and the administration’s stance on dissent.
