The Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) has expressed serious concern over growing congestion at the cargo facilities of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), warning that the issue could undermine business confidence if left unaddressed. In a statement covered by BusinessWorld, the business group urged the government to take immediate action.
MAP noted that the congestion, though currently viewed as an operational problem, has the potential to discourage trade and investment. Delays in cargo processing and rising logistical costs could harm the competitiveness of Philippine businesses, particularly those reliant on air freight for exports and imports.
To resolve the bottleneck, MAP called for investments in modern cargo infrastructure and further streamlining of customs procedures. The group emphasized that efficient air cargo operations are critical to sustaining the country's economic recovery and attracting long-term foreign investment.
