The Philippines and Canada are hoping to finalize text-based negotiations in the fourth round of talks on their proposed free trade agreement in September, the Department of Trade and Industry said. An FTA with Canada would complement existing Philippine trade arrangements and could boost market access for Filipino exporters. Both sides are aiming to conclude the text-based talks in September, setting the stage for subsequent legal review and signing. The DTI said it continues to coordinate with Canadian officials to address remaining issues before the next round.
