According to a report from BusinessWorld , the Philippines and Vietnam have signed defense and economic agreements and elevated their ties to an enhanced strategic partnership. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced the development on Monday.

The agreements cover cooperation in defense, economic matters, agriculture, and tourism. The enhanced partnership reflects a deepening of bilateral relations between the two Southeast Asian neighbors.

The upgrade is seen as a strategic move amid regional security challenges, including maritime disputes in the South China Sea. Both nations are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
