PLDT Inc. is banking on the growing adoption of 5G technology to drive revenue growth in its wireless arm Smart Communications Inc., as higher data usage and device penetration reshape demand patterns, BusinessWorld reported.
Lloyd Dennis R. Manaloto, Smart Communications co-officer-in-charge, said the company is using data analytics to refine its pricing and product strategy across its mobile user base. The approach aims to capitalize on increasing data consumption and the shift to higher-value 5G plans.
The move comes as competition in the Philippine telecom sector intensifies, with PLDT and its rivals investing heavily in network expansion. PLDT expects 5G to become a key revenue driver as more subscribers upgrade from 4G, boosting average revenue per user.
