Reytech Construction and Development Corp. is promoting the use of pre-engineered building (PEB) technology as a way to reduce construction time and labor costs amid rising input prices and labor shortages, company President Francis Reyes told BusinessWorld on the sidelines of the Philconstruct Expo.
Pre-engineered buildings involve factory-fabricated components that are assembled on-site, significantly cutting construction timelines and reliance on skilled labor. Reyes highlighted that PEB can lower overall project costs by up to 20% compared to conventional methods, making it an attractive option for developers facing escalating material prices and a tight labor market.
The construction industry in the Philippines has been grappling with double-digit increases in steel and cement prices, alongside a shortage of skilled workers. Reytech's push for PEB aligns with broader industry efforts to adopt more efficient building techniques, though widespread adoption remains limited by upfront investment and contractor familiarity.
