The Sandiganbayan’s Sixth Division has denied the motion of accused Lerma D. Cayco seeking the court’s voluntary inhibition from the malversation case against former Party-list Rep. Elizaldy “Zaldy” S. Co and his co-accused, according to a report by BusinessWorld.
In a five-page resolution dated July 3, the court ruled that Cayco’s allegations of judicial bias were unsupported by clear and convincing evidence. The division stated that the motion lacked factual basis to warrant the inhibition of the entire panel from further proceedings.
The case involves charges of malversation against Co and several others. The denial of the inhibition motion means the Sixth Division will continue to hear the case.
