Senator Erwin T. Tulfo on Wednesday filed before the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office new grave oral defamation charges against two of the 18 alleged bagmen, lawyer Levito D. Baligod, and former lawmaker Michael T. Defensor, BusinessWorld reported. The charges stem from allegations made against him during a June 16 press conference on flood control.

In an 18-page complaint-affidavit, Mr. Tulfo cited statements that he claimed were defamatory and malicious. The senator previously filed similar charges against other individuals linked to alleged corruption schemes in public works projects.

The respondents have yet to issue a formal response. The Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office is expected to schedule a preliminary investigation to determine probable cause.
