The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has issued rules allowing companies and other registered entities to use a blockchain-based system to digitally sign and authenticate documents submitted to the regulator, as reported by BusinessWorld.

SEC Memorandum Circular No. 23, Series of 2026, introduces the Verification of Electronic Records and Information Trust and Authentication System (VERITAS), which will integrate blockchain technology to ensure the integrity and authenticity of electronic signatures on corporate filings.

The move aims to streamline compliance processes and reduce paper-based transactions, enhancing security and trust in digital filings for corporations and other entities under SEC supervision.
