The filing of the Smoke-Free and Vape-Free Environment Bill in the House of Representatives drew support from Quezon City Mayor Josefina Tanya G. Belmonte, as reported by BusinessWorld . Ms. Belmonte cited the measure as a crucial step toward strengthening public health protections.
Speaking during the TobaccOFF Now Youth Film Festival on Tuesday, Ms. Belmonte said the proposed legislation responds to the growing need to regulate electronic nicotine and non-nicotine delivery systems, commonly known as vapes, alongside traditional tobacco products.
The bill aims to create a comprehensive ban on smoking and vaping in public places, aligning with global health standards. Its supporters emphasize the importance of protecting youth from nicotine addiction and exposure to harmful substances.
