Heavy rainfall is expected in five areas on Tuesday due to the effects of the southwest monsoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), as reported by BusinessWorld .

In its 5 a.m. weather advisory, PAGASA said rainfall ranging from 50 to 100 millimeters is expected over Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro. Residents in these areas were advised to take precautions against possible flooding and landslides.

The southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, typically brings intermittent rains to the western parts of the Philippines during this time of year. PAGASA continues to monitor the weather system and will issue updates as needed.
