President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. said that more regions could raise minimum wages later this year after Metro Manila approved a record P85 daily increase, according to a report by BusinessWorld.

Marcos noted that the Regional Tripartite Wage Boards are continuously studying actual prices in each region to determine whether similar adjustments are warranted based on local economic conditions. The boards are tasked with reviewing wage levels and recommending changes as needed.

The record increase in the National Capital Region, which took effect this month, has set a precedent for other areas. The government expects that regional boards will complete their reviews and potentially announce new wage orders before the end of the year.
